TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL) GRANTED PATENT FOR CONTENT DELIVERY IN A COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK.

Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (Ericsson) filed a patent application numbered 2017/DELNP/2015 that is titled CONTENT DELIVERY IN A COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK. The patent has been filed in the field of Communication. This Patent Application has been granted as Patent Number 353412. This invention relates to a method of requesting and receiving content over a network for use at a device, the method comprising sending (S1) a request for the content to a content server located in the network, and receiving (S2) a response from the content server providing a content readiness estimate for the requested content, the readiness estimate is an estimate of when the content will be ready for use at the device according to a predetermined criterion, based on network conditions affecting the delivery of the content from the content server to the device.

During the patent examination, the Patent Examiner raised objections under Section 3(k) of the Patents Act, 1970.   The subject matter of certain claims seeks protection for a computer program for requesting and receiving content over a network for use at a device. Hence, the said claims are not allowed.

As a response, the Applicant submitted that the said claim had been deleted, rendering the objection moot.
