INSECTICIDES (INDIA) LIMITED Received Patent for AN INSECTICIDAL COMPOSITION

Insecticides India Limited manufactures and distributed plant protection chemicals and household pesticides. The Company’s products include insecticides, fungicides, weedicides, herbicides, plant growth regulators, and household pesticides.

Insecticides (India) Limited filed patent application numbered 3500/DEL/2014 that is titled as AN INSECTICIDAL COMPOSITION AND PROCESS THEREOF. This patent application has been granted as Patent Number 316801.

The invention covers Agro chemical compounds. The invention relates to a novel biological product for the purification of water, soil, industrial wastewater from chemicals that are resistant to degradation such as pesticides and oil, wherein the bioproduct presents an association of strains of bacterias Pseudomonas putida VKPM B-10997, Bacillus subtilis VKPM B-10999 and Rhodococcus erythropolis VKPM Ac-1882 in a weight ratio of (1-2):(1-2):1. The bioproduct may further contain sorbent, organic and mineral supplements and stimulating agents. Said bioproduct may be used for the decomposion of resistant to degradation pesticides and oil. Bioproduct has plant growth stimulating and fungicidal activity. The invention also relates to use of the offered biological product.

The invention provides a stable combination insecticidal formulation of a thiadiazin class of insecticide buprofezin and a phenyl pyrozole class of insecticide fipronil in a water based suspension concentrate form to control wide spectrum of crop pests. It further discloses a process for preparation of this combination formulation in a water based suspension concentrate form.

During patent examination, the patent examiner raised objections under Section 3(d) of the Indian Patents Act, wherein the examiner stated that the Claim 10 falls u/s 3(d) of the Patents (Amended) Act, 2005 as the said claims defines the mere use of a known process.

As a response to said objection, the applicant submitted that the present composition is a synergistic formulation of thiadiazin class of insecticide particularly Buprofezin and phenyl pyrozole class of insecticide, particularly Fipronil along with other excipients. The composition of the present invention is highly efficient, has lesser toxicity, and covers a broader spectrum of insects. The composition involves very specific amounts of the components so that they provide a synergistic effect.
