In another aspect, a decoder decodes skipped macroblocks of an interlaced frame. Skipped macroblocks use exactly one motion vector and have no motion vector differential information, and lack residual information. The skipped macroblock signal indicates one-motion-vector coding.
During the patent examination, the Patent Examiner raised objections stating that without prejudice to other objections certain claims fall u/s-3(k) of the Patents Act (Amendment), 2005 being simply algorithm and computer program per se.
As a response, the Applicant submitted that the invention as claimed in the amended claims is not excluded as algorithm and computer program per se under Section 3(k) of the Act.
